• Mozilla.com - the best web browser (Firefox) and email reader (Thunderbird) available. They also have a calendar (Sunbird), which is still under early development.
• OpenOffice.org - a really good alternative to Microsoft Office Suite - and free!!
• The Gimp - a really good bitmap image editing program (think Adobe Photoshop).
• Inkscape - a really good, simple vector editing program (think Adobe Illustrator) - uses the SVG standard.
• Blender - a really good 3-D modelling program.
• Scribus - a really good professional DTP program.
• Ubuntu Linux - easy to install and use distro of the Linux operating system.
• Gentoo Linux - not-so-easy to install and use distro of the Linux operating system - but a lot more fun.
• Sabayon Linux - sort of in-between and still pretty fun.
